Sturebadet – Exclusive Spa and Exercise Facility PDF Print E-mail
Sweden - Spa & Beauty, Sweden

Sturebadet Spa & Beaty Stockholm Sweden

The most exclusive spa and exercise facility in Stockholm was founded as early as 1885. Doctor and renaissance man Carl Curman had a vision: he wanted to encourage the people of Stockholm to promote good health through exercise and various forms of bathing. From the outset, Sturebadet has been used by royalty and labourers alike and has its own unique place in the cultural history of Stockholm on account of its architecture and because of what it actually has to offer.

Carl Curman’s innovative concepts regarding bathing, treatments, the body and health created a business and a culture that’s served the people of Stockholm well for more than a century now. Today, Sturebadet is a modern spa in a traditional environment. Harmony between body and soul are the goal when members and guests to the spa are offered exercise, relaxation, treatments and advice on diet and exercise – all carefully selected. Sturebadet also has a restaurant where guests can start the day with what’s probably the best breakfast in town. All in a unique environment in the heart of Stockholm.

“Quality is, and always has been, key to Sturebadet. We never compromise on our endeavours to give our visitors the best of everything. This is something we’ve inherited from Carl Curman’s day, and we take great pains to uphold his ideals,” says Per Erik Hasslert, MD of Sturebadet.

An architectonic gem

The swimming pool, dating back to 1902, was designed by architect Sigge Comstedt. This, together with its Art Nouveau-style interior design by Hjalmar Molin, with its combination of Old Norse and Moorish features, makes Sturebadet an architectonic listed gem, an important element in the cultural history of Stockholm.

Physical exercise and mental relaxation

Sturebadet now has more than two thousand members who regularly use the facility. A number of them are from companies that view Sturebadet as the place to go for top exercise facilities for their staff. Sturebadet offers everything from gyms and personal training to a wide range of group exercise options such as aquarobics, Body & Mind Training, yoga, Power Hour, Zenergy and NIA.

Treatments

Besides all the forms of exercise on offer, Sturebadet offers more than fifty different treatments such as spa treatments, massages, a health spa, facials, pedicures, naprapathy and chiropractice.

Turkish Bath

Sturebadet has small, separate bathing area known as the Turkish Bath, Turkiska Badet. This can be hired by small groups for stimulating cold baths and relaxing saunas in a unique environment. This facility was often used by Greta Garbo in the 1920s. She loved the ladies’ facilities and encourages the ladies of Stockholm to visit this establishment, which was formerly very much a male-dominated phenomenon.

Other facilities

The Sturebadet concept and its high-flying ambitions as regards spa and exercise facilities is also available at the Grand Hotel and SAS Radison Park Royal in Hagaparken, where the exercise and treatment facilities available are run by Sturebadet.

Kerstin Florian spa concept

Kerstin Florian is the woman behind the Sturebadet spa concept. Sturebadet is a Kerstin Florian distributor in Scandinavia and offers top quality natural face and body products, as well as advanced skincare products.
