The unique ABSOLUT ICEBAR COPENHAGEN in central Copenhagen celebrated its first anniversary
in April 2008.
Since its launch in April 2007, ABSOLUT ICEBAR COPENHAGEN has established itself as one of the
absolutely most unique bar experiences in Copenhagen. The magical ice universe has attracted thousands of
enthusiastic Danish and international guests, all of whom have had the opportunity to enjoy ice- cold vodka
drinks in a marvellous setting that is unparalleled in Denmark.
“One of the most important ideas behind ABSOLUT ICEBAR is that the environment in the bar is in a state
of constant change – just like in nature. We now look forward to presenting an entirely new interior layout that
is directly inspired by crystal clear water.
Based on the theme, “Water Drops”, the Swedish artists, Anders Eriksson and Anders Rönnlund have created
a space with a powerful interplay between light and dark. A number of evocative lighting effects in cool green
and blue tones create an intimate experience of being surrounded by ice. One of the new elements is an ice
sculpture that is realistically formed like a shower cabinet which guests can enter, thereby sparking associations
to the coldest shower imaginable.
The temperature in ABSOLUT ICEBAR COPENHAGEN is constantly maintained at -5 degrees Celsius.
Guests are provided with coats and gloves to keep warm for the duration of the 40 minute ice experience.
The new ice design can be experienced at ABSOLUT ICEBAR COPENHAGEN,
located at Løngangsstræde 27 in Copenhagen City.

ABSOLUT ICEBAR offers an experience unlike any other. Chilled to a constant -5°C/ 23°F, it evokes all your
senses. Leading international artists and designers are invited, twice a year, to create experimental interiors and
sculptures thereby recreating the entire setting. The creative art work in every ABSOLUT ICEBAR is built by
nothing but crystal clear ice from Torne River in northern Sweden.
Everything in the bars is built by pure ice – from the walls, the stools to the artwork. Even the ‘glasses’ in which
the vodka drinks are served are made of ice, indeed “in the rocks”. The ice from Torne River, which is known for
its unique purity, is harvested at the ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi in March every year.
The fi rst ever ABSOLUT ICEBAR opened at ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden in 1994. Since then the
ABSOLUT ICEBAR family has grown and can today be found in four cities: Stockholm, London, Tokyo,
Copenhagen in addition to Jukkasjärvi. Since the start more than a million people have visited ABSOLUT
ICEBAR and about 50 unique and experimental bar designs have been created so far.
ABSOLUT ICEBAR has won numerous awards, 2006 London Club and Bar Awards - Best new Bar. 2006
National Bartender of the Year – bronze for the Crumble cocktail, to mention a few.
